Voice Routers |
|
Global Voice Networking’s Voice VPN solution uses a design based on a Voice Router A Voice VPN is not a new idea however by deploying a Voice Router there is no need for expensive PBX upgrades, software changes, dial plan changes or even new PBX trunk cards which are all on top of the cost of a voice (VoIP) gateway. The Voice Router is simply installed by "drop and insert" between the existing E1/T1 PBX trunks and the PSTN service provider PSTN trunks - therefore this is relatively low cost and low risk solution maximising the investment. Global Voice Networking’s Voice Routers support industry standard protocols including SIP and H.323. Voice Routers are also idea and interfacing to SIP Trunks which are starting to replace traditional PSTN (PRI/BRI) services. IP telephony may be appropriate for some companies looking to invest & upgrade the existing telephony platform however upgrading to an IP Telephony platform may not always provide a fast return on time and capital invested. As an alternative to IPT deployment, using a Voice Router design mean that the existing PBX investment is protected. Voice Routers have the benefit that the corporate voice dial plan is managed in the Voice Router itself rather than a central call control such as a Gatekeeper which inherently rely on high-availability platforms adding cost to the service. With Voice Routers only the VPN dial plan is managed centrally. In the unlikely event of a Voice Router failure all calls can still routed via the public network (PSTN) and so do not affect existing PSTN voice services. Voice Routers have the benefit of being software upgraded to support more (or less) concurrent Voice VPN calls (unlike most VoIP/IOS gateways which have expensive hardware DSP resources to provide). In theory, a site could start with a single voice channel and be progressively upgraded right up to 120 channels in a single Voice Router box. Indeed the Voice Router concept works equally well for head-office to distribution centre businesses where there are potentially hundreds of local distribution centres with only a single or few voice circuits each. Voice Routers can also be used for home-workers allowing all workers access to he corporate voice VPN without incurring PSTN call charges between the companies main office and the home office.
