What is a SIP Trunk/SIP Trunking?

A business SIP Trunk is a service offered by communications service providers to connect a company's PBX to the public telephone network (PSTN)

SIP Trunks are a flexible and low-cost alternative to traditional analogue lines and digital ISDN2 and ISDN30 services. Unlike ISDN you can order as many voice channels as required.

SIP Trunks can also connect two or more PBXs directly either via the Internet or a Virtual Private Network (VPN). A Voice VPN can significantly recue the cost of calls between companies sites—especially international calls.

Voice Routers remove the need for new trunk interfaces on the PBX. Uniquely our solution allows multi-site companies to retain the advantages of their existing voice infrastructure by retaining their existing PBX and handsets whilst gaining the cost-savings and benefits of a converged network. Global Voice Networking’s Voice Routers support industry standard protocols including SIP and H.323.
